Congrats to HMS Students Victorious in Vocabulary and Analogy-Solving Challenge

HMS ELA students excelled in the first part of the 38th annual WordMasters Challenge, a national vocabulary competition! Congratulations to the Highland Middle School sixth and seventh-grade English and Language Arts students for placing sixth in both grade levels in the Blue Division and to eighth-grade students in the Gold Division for placing ninth in a national vocabulary competition for students nationwide.

Students in the accelerated ELA program competed in the Blue Division, while those in the gifted program participated in the Gold Division.

Special recognition goes to Louisa C. (7th, Blue Division) and Giselle A. (8th, Gold Division) for earning perfect scores. Eighth graders Charlie H. (Gold Division) and Owen P. (Blue Division) also achieved outstanding results.

The students were coached by Joe Romano, Kristen Kubala, Linda Mitchell, Sam DeRose, Kristen Palic, Carey Fox, Kara Dirst, and Priya Varghese.

The WordMasters Challenge promotes critical thinking and analytical skills through advanced vocabulary and analogy-solving exercises. Congratulations to all participants! 🎉📖
